The Zori, a Japanese sandal, was the source of inspiration for the first Havaianas flip flops created in 1962 in Brazil. The secrecy of rubber composition of their exceptionally flexible soles guarantees their international success for more than forty years. The name Havaianas comes from "Hawaii", a favorite holiday destination for Brazilians in the 1960s. The idea of this product was so simple that it immediately met with a brilliant success: Since the launch of the brand, 2,200 million pairs have been sold of flip flops around the world. Today, six pairs of Havaianas per second are sold worldwide.
