Everybody needs a little inspiration once in a while and travelling is one of those things that enhance ones zeal and zest for life. An anonymous person once quoted, “We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us.” Abu Dhabi is one of the busiest airports in the Middle East and so it’s a prime spot to travel from. If you’re looking for ideas or places to stay, here are a few we recommend.

When it comes to leading, global hotels, Mandarin Oriental is way up on the list. In Singapore, it’s the only hotel in the city that has been awarded five-star status for its accommodation, facilities and spa. With 527 rooms and suites, the award-winning property is without doubt in a prime location. Close to the financial hub, it has quick and accessible access to stylish, sassy boutiques and entertainment hot spots. And for those passing through town for business, it’s also a stone’s throw away from Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre. Also don’t miss out experiencing their five renowned restaurants and lounges overlooking spectacular Marina Bay.

As for its interiors, on arrival it has an impressive atrium lobby. Relax in the premium oriental club lounge and the intimate spa, which is the perfect way to disconnect and renew your senses. One of the latest highlights at the spa is the innovative digital wellness retreat package, which encourages guests to re-evaluate their relationship with technology. After handing in your phone, guests can be pampered with a full body massage, healing touch and sound therapy, followed by a mineral wellness bath ritual spa treatment.

This magnificent property is really worth a visit. Not only because, this year, it was awarded as the ‘Best Health and Wellness International Hotel’ in the world according to Condé Nast Traveller, Spain, but also because Six Senses Douro Valley is built on a UNESCO World Heritage site that’s by the River Douro – so it’s in a stunning location. The breathtaking estate covers 19 acres with 57 guestrooms, suites and villas. There are also three restaurants that offer tantalising, regional produce and delicacies. Six Senses are known for their first-class spas and this particular venue comprises of 10 treatment rooms, indoor and outdoor pools and a superb gym. An outdoor yoga pavilion is ideal for individuals and groups. And to top it off, the spectacular valley is at the heart of the region that offers activities and excursions by foot, vehicle or water.

Along came Italy that kicked little Sicily right in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. The rustic beautiful island is just off the "toe" of Italy's "boot." From the historic sites, to Palermo's markets, and the lingering scent of lemon trees - it’s a charming place to visit and it has a direct flight route from Abu Dhabi airport. One resort we highly recommend is Verdura Resort.
The Rocco Forte Hotel has launched new luxurious secluded villas. There are multiple bedrooms, large sitting rooms and private pools with unparalleled views overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. And to make it even more appealing there’s complete privacy. Perfect for families and couples, the luxurious resort is designed in Olga Polizzi’s stylish and elegant aesthetic. With views either looking straight to the sea, the town of Sciacca or Agrigento. The three Villas differ slightly in size, each with their own unique individuality. All dining areas with kitchens or kitchenettes so guests can choose to enjoy the resorts restaurants or the use of a private chef when wishing to eat in the Villa.

There are abundant facilities to try, including its four restaurants, idyllic beach, and award-winning spa and golf courses. Nestled on the coast in 230 hectares of stunning landscape, Verdura Resort is ideal for a golf break because it features two outstanding 18-hole championship courses – the East Course and West Course – as well as a par-three nine-hole course, all designed by Kyle Phillips.
