The Galleria partners with Pink Caravan for Breast Cancer Awareness 12 Oct - 19 Oct, 2017
For the second year in a row, The Galleria on Al Maryah Island has partnered with Pink Caravan, a pan-UAE breast cancer initiative by Friends of Cancer Patients (FoCP) to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month celebrated internationally throughout the month of October every year. As part of the partnership, The Galleria will be hosting a Pink Caravan activation from Oct 12th - 19th (from 4pm - 10pm), during which they will embrace all things pink to advance this health campaign primarily created to increase breast cancer awareness specifically its causes, prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
During this period, visitors to The Galleria will be offered free and private screening exams and an opportunity for discussions with breast cancer experts in a dedicated seating area. Every visitor who undergoes screening will receive a pink rose from Forever Rose, a cupcake from Leopold's of London as well as a complimentary nail polish treatment with compliments from the Nstyle Beauty Lounge, to celebrate their courage and their dedication to their wellbeing. Throughout the month of October, awareness will be increased through the distribution of pink balloons and breast cancer pins by The Galleria’s hospitality ambassadors.
The Pink Caravan team will provide an educational platform to communicate the causes, symptoms and methods of detection of breast cancer, using a mobile medical booth. The Galleria’s location and ease of access are an added plus for those living and working in Abu Dhabi to walk in for free screenings and consultations. Breast cancer is the most commonly occurring cancer in the UAE and is one of the most preventable and curable of major life-threatening diseases. If detected and treated in its early stages, the rate of complete recovery for those diagnosed at an early stage is 90 per cent, highlighting the necessity for early detection.
The Pink Caravan Ride is a pan-UAE awareness trek, throughout the seven emirates including remote and outlying areas. Each year over 150 experienced equine riders join forces, garnering support across different sectors, bringing together schools, universities, corporations, Pink Caravan ambassadors and royalty.
